Jeunes Sommeliers Competition Official Documents

Age Requirement

Qualified applicants must be at least 21 (twenty-one) years of age and not be older than 27 (twenty seven) on the advertised start date of the International Final in the year in which he/she is participating. They must have been nominated by a National Bailliage pursuant to its procedures.

The nominating region/country is responsible for the airline ticket for each competitor.

Accommodation and Meals
The host country is responsible for both. (See the Registration Form listed below for more details).

The host country will provide transport to and from the airport.

Diplomas and Medals

Medals for National Finals are ordered from Competition Committee member Klaus Tritschler (

The winner of the National Final is awarded a Sommeliers Gold Medal. The Runner-up and Third Place receive Sommeliers Silver and Bronze Medals respectively.

Specially-designed Sommeliers International medals are presented to those placed 1-2-3 in the International Competition. The Winner is awarded the Gold medal and the winner's engraved silver-plated tray. The Runner-up receives a Silver medal and an engraved silver-plated tray. Third Place receives a Bronze medal and an engraved silver-plated tray. Cash and other prizes may be announced for each year’s International Final.

Each International finalist receives a commemorative diploma and a medal.

All those competing in the International Competition will be inducted into the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (with free membership for five years).

All competitions are conducted in English.
