CLIMATE
Most of Sweden has a temperate climate, despite its northern latitude, with largely four distinct seasons and mild temperatures throughout the year. The winter in the far south is usually weak and is manifested only through some shorter periods with snow and sub-zero temperatures; autumn may well turn into spring there, without a distinct period of winter. The northern parts of the country have a subarctic climate while the central parts have a humid continental climate. The coastal south can be defined as having either a humid continental climate using the 0 °C isotherm, or an oceanic climate using the -3 °C isotherm.
CAPITAL
The capital is Stockholm and other principal cities are Gothenburg, Malmö, and Uppsala.
Båstad
Båstad is a locality in Skåne (English: Scania) County. It is one of Sweden's most typical summer resorts.
Within Sweden, Båstad is well known for tennis. The largest centre court in the country is located in the town. It can take more than 5,000 spectators. Several top national players, such as Björn Borg, Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg, have played tennis in Båstad.
Of more importance to the Competition is that Skåne County is the heart of Sweden's rapidly growing wine industry, producing roughly 80% of the country's wines. The region is emerging as a top Nordic wine tourism destination.
